Abstract

This research aims to determine the use of YouTube videos by teachers as a media for teaching writing procedure texts at 11th grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Minhajut Tholabah Purbalingga and to get students’ perception toward the use of it. The participants of this study were an English teacher and representatives of the 11th grade students Madrasah Aliyah Minhajut Tholabah Purbalingga. Furthermore, qualitative descriptive was used as the approach to describe findings based on the observations, interviewed, and documentation. The research result showed that the teacher explained material about procedure texts in teaching used YouTube Videos to write procedural texts. The process of teaching and learning used inquiry based instruction. It consists of exploration, elaboration, and confirmation. The author found that to present YouTube videos in the class the teacher utilized the laptop, projector, and LCD. Based on data obtained from interviews with students, students perception of the use of YouTube videos in teaching writing procedure can be classified into fourth, namely: (1) it motivated students to follow the learning English, they feel happy and enthusiastic, (2) YouTube videos make it easier for students to understand text procedures, (3) the subject was easier to understand, and (4) YouTube videos needs to be implemented as a media of teaching process in teaching procedure text
