Abstract

The emergence of the idea of community empowerment through the KUBE approach is based on the idea that everyone has the potential and ability to be developed. However, the awareness and participation of KUBE members will be very low. Islam wants social change to eradicate injustice and improve people's welfare. The type of this research is field research with case study approach. Data analysis techniques used descriptive qualitative using interview techniques, observation and documentation as a means of data collection. Primary data sources were obtained from the Social Service of Purbalingga District, TKSK (Kaligondang Social Workers), companions and KUBE Kaligondang members. While the secondary data obtained from the books on empowerment, previous research that discusses the empowerment in KUBE and data from the internet. The conclusion is that community empowerment within KUBE is still at the level of manipulation in which people are involved in a program, but in fact their involvement is not based on a mental, psychological impulse, and with consequences of participation contributing to the program. In the Islamic perspective, the empowerment of society emphasizes social change, the Qur'an also explains in the QS. ar-Ra'du (13): 11. Community empowerment in KUBE in Kaligondang is not yet compatible with Islamic economics. Due to the lack of welfare and social change of KUBE members and the surrounding community. Therefore, KUBE program in Kaligondang needs to innovate and involve youth to develop KUBE program through Islamic economic system, since there are still many problems in community empowerment through KUBE program, such as uneven distribution, social imbalance, and program unsustainability. Efforts that can be done, for example youth to establish an institution that transacts in sharia can be a Sharia Financial Services Cooperative (KJKS) to improve the welfare of KUBE members based on sharia.
