Abstract

Abstract: Education plays a crucial role in shaping superior quality human resources. Student learning motivation is an important factor in achieving academic success, where teachers play a role as the main driver in fostering this motivation. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in fostering learning motivation of fifth grade students at MI Ma'arif NU 1 Pandansari. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that learning motivation is the main factor that determines student success in the learning process. Without motivation, even though students have high intellectual abilities, they will not achieve optimal learning outcomes. Therefore, the role of teachers is very important in fostering and maintaining this motivation. Teachers not only function as conveyors of material, but also as facilitators, motivators, and managers of a conducive classroom atmosphere. Research conducted in class 5 MI Ma'arif NU 1 Pandansari shows that teachers have succeeded in carrying out these roles effectively. Teachers create a comfortable learning environment through the arrangement of the U (horseshoe) model class that allows active interaction between students. With this innovative and humanistic learning approach, students not only become more active and confident, but also motivated to learn independently and responsibly. Therefore, it can be concluded that the role of teachers in motivating students through learning strategies, classroom management, and giving awards is an important element that supports the success of education at the elementary level.
