Abstract

Problem-based learning is learning concepts that can help teacher relate the material they teach with real life and encourage students to think critically in finding solutions. This research aims to describe the implementation of problem-based learning in Narrative text and the problems faced by the teacher in the classroom. This research was conducted at 9th grade of Darurrahmah Islamic Boarding School Yapida Bojong Nangka Gunung Putri Bogor. The subject of this research is a teacher in junior high school and students in grades 9th A and 9th B and the object is the implementation of problem-based learning in teaching narrative text and the problem in the implementation of problem- based learning in teaching narrative text. This research used descriptive qualitative methods, where data is presented in the form of descriptions or words. Data was obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the research show that there are several preparations in implementing the problem-based learning model, namely; determining learning objective, learning material, learning models, learning approach, learning media, the steps for learning activities, the allocation of required time. The implementation of PBL in teaching narrative text include 4 steps, namely presenting or identifying the problem, developing a plan for solving the problem, implementing the plan, evaluating the implementation. There are several problems with implementing the PBL in teaching Narrative text at this school including; difficulties of time management, difficulties in providing instructions, difficulties to help solve problems.
