Abstract
Authentic materials is one of learning medium that used in learning process. Teacher used authentic materials because of the variety problem when teaching reading. The objective of this research is to find out how the teacher plan to use authentic material in teaching reading, how the teacher use authentic material in the learning process of teaching reading and how the teacher evaluate after use authentic material in teaching reading. This research used qualitative method. The data collection technique was observation, interview and documentation. The object of this research is authentic material in teaching reading at Al-Ikhsan Islamic Boarding School Beji Banyumas. The teacher used authentic material to overcome variety of problem in teaching reading. Before selected authentic material there are three primary criteria like suitability of context, exploitability and readability. Teacher also used pre reading, while reading and post reading in the process of teaching reading. In evaluating students teacher also used various method.
