Abstract

Since pandemics have negatively affected the field of education, the learning system and curriculum have always been subject to change. This thesis discusses the Merdeka curriculum, which is still the current curriculum and which few schools have adopted or comprehended. In this case, the teacher should know what is different and should apply to this curriculum. This study seeks to determine and analyze how the implementation of Merdeka curriculum in teaching English at 4th grade SDN 1 Purwanegara Banyumas. The principal, the English teacher, and fourth-grade students were the subjects of the research. Interview, observations, and documentation were conducted to obtain the research data. The data analysis technique were data reduction, data display, and verification. The results of this study shows that the English teacher used three phases in teaching, there are phase of pre-teaching, inter-teaching, and post-teaching. Also, teacher questioning were used by the English teacher. According to observations, teacher gave some questions related to the lesson and students tried to answer based on their knowledge. In Merdeka curriculum, The subject matter imparted to students is covered in simple yet profound lessons. Students also study independently. In teaching English, the teacher encountered a number of obstacles, such as a lack of vocabulary mastery and the English teacher did not perceive certain Merdeka curriculum lesson-planning procedures.
