Abstract

Abstract: Character is a nature that exists in humans or innate potential that exists from birth which must be maintained and developed. The main factor that is very influential in instilling character in children is the environment, these environmental factors may have a positive or negative impact depending on their respective environment. Apart from these environmental factors, another factor that greatly influences the child's character is from the family itself. To form and develop character in children can be done through the efforts of the three education centers, both education from the family, school and from the community. Through the book Mr. Crack from Parepare which discusses the life journey of one of the most well-known and influential figures for Indonesia, Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie, with this figure can be used as an example for society, especially children, in instilling character values. The purpose of this study is the first to find out the character values of Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie during childhood in Mr. Crack from Parepare by A. Makmur Makka, the second to explain how the process of forming character education values in Mr. Crack from Parepare. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with the type of library research (library research). Library Research is an activity related to collecting library data, to then be read, recorded and processed into a complete research. The data collection technique used in this research is using documentation techniques, collecting various kinds of data in the form of writing that is relevant to the problem that is the focus of the research. The data analysis technique used in this research is content analysis. The results of this study are1) there are character education values in Mr. crack from Parepare that focuses on the B.J. Habibie was still a child, which included: religious, honest, creative, fond of reading, curiosity, friendship, discipline, hard work, independent and responsible. 2) The process of forming character education values in Mr. Crack from Parepare through: 1) understanding, by providing direction and understanding of the values to be formed. 2) Habituation, its application by giving examples or repeated exercises. 3) Exemplary, parents as the main teacher must set a good example or role model for their children.
