Abstract

Konflik sosial adalah perselisihan nilai atau tuntutan yang berhubungan dengan kekuasaan, status. Lewis A. Coser mengkonsep untuk mengetahui konflik sosial bisa diketahui melalui unsur hostile feeling (permusuhan dalam diri seseorang) dan hostile behavior (perilaku permusuhan). Penelitian ini menggunakan objek karya sastra berupa novel dengan judul Jalan Menikung karya Umar Kayam. Dimana cerita didalam novel dikonsep seperti cerita kehidupan masyarakat Indonesia yang multikultural, berbeada secara agama, budaya, suku ras dan bahasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan (1) mendeskripsikan bentuk konflik sosial dan faktor penyebab konflik sosial berdasarakn teori Lewis A. Coser (2) mendeskripsikan penyelesaian konflik sosial dalam novel Jalan Menikung karya Umar Kayama berdasarkan teori Lewis A. Coser. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan dan Jenis penelitian ini adalah adalah kualitatif deskriptif dan studi Pustaka (library research). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan Teknik observasi non partisipan dan dokumentasi. Analisis data mengacu pada model Miles Huberman, yaitu melalui tahapan reduksi data, pemaparan data dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa analisis konflik sosial Jalan Menikung berdasarkan teori Lewis A. Coser terdiri dari (1) Bentuk konflik sosial pelaku berupa konflik realistis dengan unsur hostile feeling dan hostile behavior serta konflik non realistis (2) Penyelesaian konflik sosial ada empat yaitu, konversi, toleransi, kompromi dan Mediasi. Kata kunci : konflik sosial, bentuk konflik dan penyelesaian konflik Social conflict is a dispute over values or demands related to power, status. Lewis A. Coser conceptualizes that social conflict can be identified through elements of hostile feeling (hostility within a person) and hostile behavior (hostile behavior). This study uses a literary work object in the form of a novel with the title Jalan Menikung by Umar Kayam. Where the story in the novel is conceptualized as the story of the life of the Indonesian people who are multicultural, different in religion, culture, ethnicity, race and language. This study aims (1) to describe the form of social conflict and the factors that cause social conflict based on Lewis A. Coser's theory (2) to describe the resolution of social conflict in the novel Jalan Menikung by Umar Kayama based on Lewis A. Coser's theory. This research is library research and the type of this research is descriptive qualitative and library research. Data collection techniques using non-participant observation techniques and documentation. Data analysis refers to the Miles Huberman model, namely through the stages of data reduction, data exposure and conclusions. The results showed that the analysis of social conflict on Jalan Menikung based on Lewis A. Coser's theory consisted of (1) The form of social conflict of the actors in the form of realistic conflict with elements of hostile feeling and hostile behavior as well as non-realistic conflicts (2) There were four resolutions of social conflicts, namely, conversion, tolerance, compromise and mediation.
