Abstract

The background of this research is: firstly, education must be continuously improved, especially for educational institutions have big and heavy duty and responsibility in preparing quality learners; secondary, the achievement of educational goals depends on the skills and wisdom of the principal as one of the leaders of education; and thirdly, the importance of the principal's leadership strategy in improving the quality of education. So the purpose of this study are: (1) to know the strategy of madrasah head in improving the quality of education in Islamic Junior High School Ma'arif NU 04 Tamansari and Islamic Junior High School Ma'arif NU 16 Sirau Karangmoncol Purbalingga Regency; and (2) to analyze the comparison of madrasah head leadership strategies in improving the quality of education in Islamic Junior high School Ma'arif NU 04 Tamansari and Islamic Junior high School Ma'arif NU 16 Sirau Karangmoncol Purbalingga Regency. The approach of this research is qualitative with research type is case study with research location is Islamic Junior High School Ma'arif NU 04 Tamansari and Islamic Junior High School Ma'arif NU 16 Sirau Karangmoncol Purbalingga Regency. Data collection methods used include: interviews, observation and documentation. The data collected through the three techniques is organized, interpreted, and analyzed repeatedly, then cross-case analysis is done to construct concepts and abstractions of research findings. The results of this study indicate that: first, the head of Islamic Junior High School Ma'arif NU 04 Tamansari and Head of Islamic Junior High School Ma'arif NU 16 Sirau Karangmoncol Purbalingga Regency makes the vision of madrasah as a tool to direct the direction and purpose of madrasah. Both are trying to be a mission as a motivator to explore the potential, creations, and innovations that madrasahs have for the realization of madrasah goals. Tekait value of leadership, both heads of madrasah agreed to instill superior and Islamic values in madrasah to be believed madrasah citizens and manifested in everyday behavior, so as to cultivate a culture of achievement in madrasah. Second, leadership strategy of Islamic Junior High School Head. Ma'arif NU 04 Tamansari and Head of Islamic Junior High School Ma'arif NU 16 Sirau Karangmoncol Purbalingga Regency in improving the quality of education in its madrasah are: (a) improving the quality of curriculum and learning, by applying Curriculum 2013 (K-13) and encouraging creative efforts of teachers and learners in learning process by elaborating learning resources; (b) improving the quality of students, the two heads of madrasahs select madrasah input candidates and divide learners into three major groups; (c) improving the quality of teachers and employees, the two heads of madrasah empower teachers and employees through routine and temporal activities filled with empowerment activities in madrasah and outside madrasah; and (d) improving the quality of facilities and infrastructure, the two heads of madrasahs attempt to equip facilities and infrastructure less gradually with priority scales
