Abstract

In globalizationera, traditional education faced many challenges. The challenges are profession, modern technology, wider knowledge and wider link of the students. Seeing those challenges, the traditional education isso difficultto develop if it still stagnant or unchanged. So, the renewal on education is important to do. Educational modernization is how the education is adapting to the progressive era, include Islamic education in pesantren. Islamic education as the one of dynamic public service must be able to pack theirselves with dynamic, relevant, professional, and competitive service principles.The effortof Islamic education modernization also done by the Institution in Pattani, Thailand, named BakongPittaya School. Firstly, it is just pesantren (traditional Islamic education). But H. AbdulkadirAbdulmanae modernized the pesantrenby developing formal education. Based on the background of problem above, so the problem statement in this research is about “What Kind of Improving Formal Education in BakongPitaya School, Pattani, Thailand based on the Idea of H. AbdulkadirAbdulmanae”. The focus of this reseach is in the improving formal education on High School level. This research use qualitative approach, take the subject of research in BakongPittaya School, Pattani, Thailand. Collecting data techniquesin this researchare: interview, observation, anddocumentation. The result of this research is theeducational system in pesantrenwas changed after modernized.Formal education starts from Kindergarten until High School. The educational system in BakongPittaya School isconsisted of two system, those are Islamic education system and general education system. There are 33 subjects in BakongPittaya High School, which divided into Islamic sciences and general sciences.The introduction language on the learning process on BakongPittaya High School are two, those are Thailand and Malay Language. The extracurricular in BakongPittaya High School consist of nasyid, football, and BEC (Bakong English Club). The modernization of pesantrencaused internal and external impacts. The modernization that is done by H. AbdulkadirAbdulmane also the challenges and opportunities to develop the institution better in accordance with era development.
