Abstract

Pattani was a regional center for Islamic learning in the 19th Century; Muslim students from archipelagic Southeast Asia would sojourn at the pondok in the province before going to the Middle East to further their Islamic education. Patani Muslims were also prominent educators in major Islamic institutions in the Arab-Muslim World, most notably the Grand Mosque in Mecca. Pattani scholars and Tok Guru (religious teachers and principals of pondok schools) were also instrumental in translating religious commentaries and sermons from Arabic to Malay (in jawi). The aim of this research is to describe and analyze how Islamic Education System is applied in Religion Class at Bakong Pittaya School Pattani Thailand. The type of this research is field research which has the descriptive qualitative method. The location is in religion class at Bakong Pittaya School Pattani Thailand. The data collecting techniques used observation, interview, and documentation. Then, the data analysis used data reduction, presentation of data, and verification. From the result of research, the researcher found that Bakong Pittaya School has two systems of education, there are and religion class academic class. Both of them have different subjects, teachers, students, and classrooms. Absolutely, Islamic education system at Bakong Pittaya School held in religion class. The class consisted of some Islamic subjects, taught by ustadz and ustadzah, between male and female were separated by the class, and implemented in the morning.
