Abstract
Increasing teacher competence is an important thing to do, given that teachers are the main element in determining quality education. The Teachers Working Group on Islamic Religious Education (KKG PAI) as a professional forum for improving the knowledge and skills of PAI teachers, and developing activity programs to improve teacher competence. This research is a qualitative research, with the aim to describe and analyze: the competence of teachers of Islamic Religious Education Elementary School in Nusawungu Sub-district Cilacap; improving the competence of teachers of Islamic Education through Teachers Working Group (KKG) in KecamatanNusawunguCilacap; results of teacher competency improvement through Teachers Working Group (KKG) in KecamatanNusawunguCilacap. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. The subjects of this study were Supervisors of PAI, Chair of KKG, Deputy of Planning and Program Implementation, and teachers representing each of Dabin. The results of this study indicate that: 1) Competence of teachers PAI KecamatanNusawunguCilacap entered in the category less, so to improve the competence of teachers PAI is diefektifkan KKG PAI activities, in hopes to improve the competence of teachers PAI Nusawungu District, 2) developed through the Teachers Working Group (KKG) in Nusawungu Sub-district, is well underway, but the competencies developed more on professional and pedagogic competence. For the development of personality and social competence programs still need to be improved again, 3) The result of increasing the competence of teachers PAI through KKG PAI District Nusawungu namely; enhancement of its academic qualifications; increase teacher's motivation and confidence; improvement of teacher professional competence; enhancing teacher pedagogical competence; enhancing Islamic art skills.
